- Airbag fold introduction from former competitor- Morton Airbags(1996-'97?)

The technology used for realising the airbag fold for the BMW-programme was not appreciated by the responsible process engineer. He asked me as responsible manufacturing engineer to have a look at the folding technique of our new partner(Autoliv). Our concept was a copy of their concept but the tricks in order to evade the patent resulted in a complex machine. The Autoliv-version was an elegant simple one. At one minute before 12 it is a diificult task to introduce an airbag fold in the process of proving production readiness during a merger of two companies. An improvement on technology simplicity and some cost reduction were finally the reason to talk to the customer, who accepted the change..
